Slip Ups That Will Slow Your Text Marketing Opt Ins

To us, text message marketing is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It might even be the greatest thing since craft beer.  We love text marketing, mostly because it’s an immediate and cost effective way to reach hundreds, even thousands of qualified customers in a matter of seconds.

But, if you’re new to text marketing, and don’t take the time to thoroughly comb through our platform, you could be making a few detrimental mistakes. These mistakes might go unnoticed for a while, but eventually you’ll realize that you’re not getting the most out of your text marketing list.

1. Picking a keyword that is easily misspelled.

When choosing a keyword, don’t complicate your selection. Keep it simple, and easy to remember. If you pick a word that is easily misspelled, potential subscribers may miss out on joining your text marketing list.

2. Designing promotional materials that are too busy.

We always encourage you to promote your text marketing list with in store marketing materials. But if you’re table tent is cluttered with too many images or calls to action, a potential subscriber will have a hard time weeding through the fluff. Keep your designs direct, this is always the most effective method.

3. Not offering a valuable incentive.

You can’t expect people to join your text marketing list “just because”. This is completely unrealistic, and won’t serve you in the long run. Offer an incentive that encourages potential subscribers to jump at the chance to connect.

4. Forgetting to include your offer in the auto reply.

On occasion, we see users forget to include the original incentive in their auto reply. Don’t make the potential subscriber jump through hoops to redeem an offer. Once they’ve opted in, immediately reward them for their behavior.
